Ty are you saying Aaron is going to be an elite point guard like his brother Andrew?

Great insight. Wiggins is the type of player you just don't want the other team to have. He could pull a Carmelo and lead his team pretty much by himself to a championship.

dave do you feel that wiggins is somewhat socially awkward and just felt a little smaller fishbowl in Kansas would suit him better? there is so much attention lavished on these players here that it may have made a shy kid like wiggins a bit uncomfortable.. thrilled to have young... he seems to like the spotlight a bit more and would be more of one of the guys here instead of forced to be the guy

Kansas is no hole in the wall. Have talked with many Cats over the years, and to a man they all comment on being nervous in front of crowds, even as seniors. Jarod Polson was nervous, extremely so, before Madness this year. After the tipoff, it goes away somewhat, but the fear of screwing up debilitates some. When I was at UC a century ago, had a freshman come in that broke Jerry Lucas's Ohio high school scoring record. The kid couldn't throw a rock into a swimming pool when the crowds showed up. In practice, lights out, game, out to lunch. Trying to think of a Cat whose game was bothered by the crowds.....often wondered if Rhodes was that way. Remember Cousins at an IU game when I think he let the crowd take him out of his game. Remember that?

Second, Wiggins, unless coached differently, will take time off. It's like he has headphones on and gets lost. I know that type. Fitch was that way in high school, but his enemy, a kid named Clark Washinton, stopped him dead in his tracks. When Washington said Fitch was the best player he'd ever seen, I took notice and told Tubby that. As an aside, Gerald would have been in jail by now if it wasn't for a white man who took him off the streets and financed his way to Lexington for a visit. His brother was killed in an unfortunate shoot out, the hood that Gerald knew. His sister, Valencia, talked trash to him and was as much instrumental in getting to play ball as the white doctor. I love that episode of my life. I love the kid. Loved Fitch as well. Maybe no other player in recent memory got more out of less, perhaps Jorts? Love hearing from you Dave!

I think what Dave is talking about are so called "practice players," of which the one that comes to mind is Josh Carrier

Dave - it looks like I haven't figured out how to post to a "quote", but I remember Bret Bearup was affected by the crowds and the game situations. I remember reading that he said the minute he would hit the floor, the lights would start spinning!

I was trying to remember Josh Carriers name when I saw your post. One of the most hyped, never misses in practice shooters at UK all time. He and Tim Stevens might be a tie for the same problem

Dave's use of plays sometimes like he has the earphones on reminds me somewhat of Tracy McGrady. Tracy would have spells like that in high school but was still an outstanding individual player. The key word is "individual". It will be interesting to watch how it all turns out.

After last night, I am glad we got JY and Kansas got AW. Wiggins will never pay defense like that, and JY has a much better outside shot. Plus, I think the chemistry will be much better than it would have been, had we gotten AW.
