I can post something here that I could have never posted on TBK. I have a relative that lives in Lexington that is wealthy. He is also a complete jerk so keep that in mind as I say what I'm about to say. He is connected to many people that part of UK. According to him Maggard is very very connected when it comes to the athletics end of things. However, he told me unequivocally that the power players at UK and in the city in general view Marc as an egotistical arrogant jerk. Apparently he is a useful jerk, but a jerk nonetheless.

I could be wrong, but I still firmly believe he was most connected when BCG was there. That's when he seemed to have the best info and began to get more and more arrogant.
Maybe it's bc twitter and all the other sites weren't as prevalent, maybe I'm crazy, but that's my opinion.

I was with MM before TBK. I was an Insider and then a Lifer. He had solid information and contact with others who had information. However, I could not agree with the way he and TBK were going a year or so ago. I wrote it in the Lifer section and got banned. So, I went to Cats Illustrated. I have even defended MM over there a time or two. However, with that being said, I would not spend another cent on any of his business endeavors. I just happened to check in TBK for the first time in over a year. When I saw that this site was started, I couldn't wait to register. I appreciate the respect that is shown by others on this site. Go Big Blue.

It would be great if Greg would come over. Also, what about Jaiden? Is he still around?

There isn't a person, mod or poster, that has gone to war with Marc over the way he crapped on his customer more than I did (up until I was banned, honestly don't know what happened after that. Others may have stepped up). Few things irritate me more than not providing value to a customer (jock itch, maybe).
With that said, I'm all for forgetting that P.O.S. exists. I got a lot of grief from him over TBK, and would just as soon forget he exists and let him DJ/bar-tend/daycare/comedy/scout in peace.
It's a new day for the TBK refugees. Lets forget Fearless Leader (old-people reference) and enjoy what the TBK staff gave us (present company included...I had no clue this was going down), a better place to talk UK sports.
And, FWIW, I'm not near the wee-wee head in person I am online. Hiding behind a monitor makes it easier.

this thread pretty much sums up what most everyone thought. and that this online community was/is much bigger than MM's ego was/is. this is his loss.

I second Edge's motion.
I realize that all this has left a bitter taste in the mouth for folks who paid good money and got little in return - but maybe talking about a great basketball season (starting Tuesday!) can ease the pain and allow us to enjoy this site...
It's his loss and our gain.

Yep I'm over it. Time to move on with what we got now. Which is pretty damn sweet.

This site is the brain child of Chingy, Jenkins, and a couple others I think... they took the initiative to start the free site on proboards. There has since been much colaboration betweeen the moderators. Katscratches was not started to take members away from TBK, rather provide a place to gather and stay a community in the event Marc did not return and the "lights were turned out".
That being said, the fact we have close to 300 members in less than a week has blown us all away. This, without promoting the site whatsoever. It's really remarkable.
I bought the domain name katscratches.com, took care of hosting fees, and linked it to the site as you see it today. I would like to build a custom site in the future, but as of right now this is quite adequate.
This will be a website for UK fans, a community without dictatorship rule. A place where everyone is treated fairly, yet still held accountable for their actions. If you say something stupid, expect someone to tell you about it. Don't wear your feelings on your sleeves or be thin skinned. This is a place for spirited and intelligent conversation and debate, just be respectful. Furthermore, this is not a place to rant, not a place to say a team "sucks" after a loss(es). The "Respect Your Team" rule was one of TBK's endearing qualities.
That out of the way, I would like this place to be fun, much like TBK was in the beginning. The banter was agressive and sharp, yet always in good fun. I miss that.

Maybe it's bc twitter and all the other sites weren't as prevalent, maybe I'm crazy, but that's my opinion. I've attended events with Marc. Helped him evaluate players, record stats, interview recruits, and even stayed overnight at his house with Jon Hood sleeping in the floor next to the couch I was on. I say that only to let you know I've been with him on the recruiting circuit. I have been beside Marc when he has received phone calls from several head coaches. I have been with Marc and witnessed Rod Strickland walk into the building and go directly up to Marc first thing and interact with him like they are best friends. On another occasion, I witnesses the same thing with Coach O. He doesn't just get info from these guys... he's actually friends with them. I was even in the car with him once when BCG actually called HIM. He may not be the most ethical of businessmen, or have much tact.... but one thing he does have is connections.

I love that you got the couch and Hood got the floor. I guess a couch would have been a NCAA violation. LOL I guess as long as Jon enjoyed his bread crust and well water then it wasn't so bad for him to sleep on the floor.
