1. Extremely nervous and out of sync in first half as has been pointed out in other threads. 2. Three point shooting only 3 of 11. 3. New rules hurt penetration defense. 4. Great depth down low. 5. Need to improve in free throw shooting. 6. Switched on man-to-man out front more than I have seen before - indication of equal capability for all players on floor. 7. Great win, no matter what.

I only got to see the second half. They have some things to work through but looked pretty good overall for the time of year it is. Great pass by Hood to Lee for a SLAM!

Big props to Alex, I think. Ton of rebounds, hustle, didn't force things, good game for him.
Don't know what to say about Lee, other than great game. Think I'll call him OG.
Young was off, and that will happen, but did you notice he doesn't keep jacking?
Solid on defense. The little kid on UNCA, Worsey, is another Dupay, he'll have a forty point outing somewhere along the line against lesser height. Still, he did fairly well against us.
Loved the second half defense and noticed our guys had a stride about them.
We will need the Northern game to get more synchs going, meantime, shoot some free throws, guys.

Obviously need some time to develop, but I thought they played fairly well as did UNC-Asheville. They didn't just hand us the game. Everyone of our guys did stuff that impressed me and they seem to have a team attitude. Good game IMO. We are DEEP!! GO CATS!!!

I think Randle could end up being the national POY. He didn't look great in the first half and still had 23 & 15 for the game. He's going to be a matchup problem for every team we face. Thought Poy played really well on both ends of the floor, too. Hope we see more of Randle & Poy playing at the same time. Andrew Harrison's vision is amazing! He's another huge matchup problem with his size, quickness and passing ability. Other than that, playing hard consistently & free throw shooting are definitely needed areas of improvement.

Cauley-Stein really played great and hustled after every rebound ,stoles the ball and blocked several shots ! He really ran the floor well!

Cauley-Stein was a machine tonight, did it all without scoring a lot of points. He just flat out hustled tonight. Julius was a beast tonight. Good to see Andrew on the court tonight. He does make a difference.

I love that Calipari has sold them on not settling for long range jumpers(11 3pt attempts) because the teams that attack the paint are going to be the most successful this season. UK looks great on the switching defenses. IMO UK plays with an arrogant heart right now, not concentrating on the freethrow line, not going 100% all the time around the rim just relying on their talent at time during the game..this should improve as the season goes on.

I don't see anyway that we can maintain just a 7 man rotation. Alex, Marcus, Dakari and Polson to a lesser extent will play while the game is still up-in-the-air.

When I watch this team,,I keep screaming at my TV drive! drive!,,they are so much bigger than every one else they are either gonna score, get fouled, or get the rebound and score on a put back, and I agree with Dave,,they need to learn to shoot free throws,,gonna get a lot of them,,,

Here are the shot charts and my game post: wildcatstats.wordpress.com/2013/11/09/kentucky-vs-unc-asheville-11813/The big things I noticed, which I talk about in the link above, were that, on offense, Kentucky obviously had much more success when they drove and kicked against the zone; and, on defense, the key to the second half success was stopping the UNCA post players (especially 33) from establishing deep post position. This team is going to be good.

Extremely impressed with Alex. If he and Randle rebound the ball and go aggressively back up like that then whoever we play will have their hands full. Big big props to Alex. He was a rebounding finishing force and played to his strengths. Cal is doing a great job. I was impressed highly with his effort on D as well.

Did u guys notice how hard Cal is coaching Randle? I love it. He's gonna get every ounce of that kids ability this year.
