FWIW: What the local news had to say about the dismissal of Johnson. www.tuscaloosanews.com/news/20190324/alabama-officially-parts-ways-with-avery-johnsonPersonally, I was surprised he was let go. Thought he did a good job recruiting by landing Sexton and Perry; was a decent game coach and promoted the program much better than some of his predecessors. It sure didn't help when Norfolk State took them out of the little tournament. Can't see 'Bama upgrading the program with a new hire but what do I know? Pelphrey back in charge (for the time being).

Well, they gave him 4 years to make thew program truly relevant --in the same sense as did CM many moons ago. One can argue over whether a coach should be given 5-6 years, instead, but there really isn't much indication of the Tide "turning a corner", or the like.
This is a tough conference in which to recruit top talent if you haven't been a traditional power in a given sport, tho the state of Alabama does at least generate homegrown talent. Should be interesting who they try to hire now and at what price tag, but this is also true of Vandy, TAMU & possibly LSU and Arkansas.

Who cares......its Bama. An irrelevant basketball school. Its a team that once every 5 or 6 years may be decent.
