I'm going to weigh in this evening with what I'm thinking/feeling so far, but wanted to get a general idea from your guys what you're thinking about where the FB team is, where you think they end up, and your thoughts on the future of the program.
Sound off, I'd really like to get an idea of what you all are thinking.

I had pretty low expectations going into this season, and was ok with waiting til next year before seeing any real improvements in the win/loss record. If you had told me before the season we would be on the brink of bowl eligibility after just 7 games, I would have applauded your fanhood, but questioned your sanity. The only thing resembling the old UK football program has been the meltdown at LSU, but it's not really fair to judge anyone by how they perform on a Saturday night in that environment. The drastic change in the culture of the football program is the most impressive thing, and something I thought would take several years to do. I'm not even all that concerned with the empty seats that still remain on gameday. The team keeps winning, the fans will follow. So, I'm more than happy with where we are and the direction of the program at this point.

They've already exceeded my expectations for the season (4 wins, 1 SEC win). Even if they lose out I'll be ok as long as they compete. Despite Vegas odds, I do think there is still the opportunity to get bowl eligible but they're gonna have to play their A game as the underdog from here on out.
As far as the future? I think it's really bright. I like what Stoops has recruited and continues to recruit. I think next year is the year it really starts to shine and show it's potential. As good as the Cats have played this season, they've also had the benefit of having easier games at the front end of the schedule so I'm not sure how that bodes to finish the season.

anyone would have been thrilled with 5-2! but i am not satisfied with just that. i want tenn and louisville so bad. would be jumping out of my chair screaming for joy if we only win those 2 and go 7-5. amazing what they have done thus far.

They've met my most optimistic expectations already. But I'd love to see them get at least one more win!

First of all, I want to reserve judgement after the LSU game until Saturday to see if the team bounces back (which I think they will) or if it's more of the same. Spotting LSU 17 because of special teams snafus didn't help at all.
With that said, overall you can see a better product on the field. The Defense has done a good job, just still need more talent. UK's 1's can match up with about anyone's 1's, just when you get into the 2's and 3's you start to see how poor the recruiting has been under the previous staff.
If you had told me in August that after the LSU game we'd be 5-2 with a real shot of being 6-1 with wins over Florida and S. Carolina...I'd be ecstatic. And I am. I was a little dejected after Saturday, but that was more I was embarrassed for the kids having to endure yet another butt kicking. Hoping they can bounce back this week and show the nation that UK IS on the rise.
5 games left. If I'm ranking where the wins come from, in order of likelihood, I'd go.... UT, UL, Mizzou, UGA, Miss St. I think we end up 7-5 (finishing on a 2 game win streak) and in a lower level bowl game (Music City, etc). If we can eek out an 8th win, I see us heading to Tampa or Atlanta for the Outback or Peach (it will ALWAYS be the Peach bowl to me). Holding off on my winter vacation plans in case we go to Tampa...that will be my trip this year.
The ride continues Saturday. Hoping I have the umph to make it to Commonwealth Saturday. If not, I'll be in front of the TV rooting these guys on.

They are doing better than we expected for this year but to many dropped passes and missed tackles.I also think some of the plays from the sideline are suspect.

Yesterday was really the first game I've seen a big issue with drops. Our receivers by large are still freshman and sophomores. I don't see it as an issue going forward like he has been with previous WR corps.
I think Stoops would agree on the tackling, but as I said with the drops, yesterday was the first game it really stood out. I think you also have to give some credit to Robinson as he's like a bowling ball. Teams have had trouble tackling him all year. And State is a big, physical team of very experienced players.
The fact that they were within a TD that late with the #1 team in the country should say all we need to know about where this team can go under Stoops.

I'm a little late to this post. Before the season started I thought I would be happy if we won 4 games doubling our win total from last year. I just thought we were another recruiting class away from being able to actually compete, and that we just didn't have enough quality players. The new recruits we have are so young that I didn't think we would get anything consistent from them.
So to be sitting here with 5 wins right now, I'm very happy. As far as I'm concerned I think we are ahead of schedule and realistically I don't expect to win another game. With that said, as well as we are playing I would be disappointed now if we didn't win at least one more game.
Like Edge said, you can see how much improvement this team is making and that we need depth. I also think our youth really hurts us at times but Coach Stoops is taking care of that. I am extremely happy with the direction of the team right now, and I think we have to give credit where its due also to the administration. it finally appears they are willing to spend some money to improve the football team where as in the past it always felt like they were trying not to spend any money. We are spending more on coaches now and everything appears to be heading in a much better direction.
