I am wondering what you guys think the realistic record will be this season. I am hopeful we will have a great season and make a bowl.

If we can get some semblance of a passing game, I think 6 wins and a bowl game is absolutely in play. Being able to control the ball will be key with this offense and would have made a huge difference last year. If you remember the Hal Mumme days, we had almost the opposite problem of the defense having to play too much because we often scored too quickly. I'd take that.

Hopefully a record like that would show proof to future recruits this isn't the same place it was before and make them feel its a good move to consider coming here.

not sure honestly. but i have a tremendous amount of faith in this staff. and the strength and cond program they have put in. i really anticipate seeing a the returning guys in great shape and increased strength and stamina. a year and a half learning this system, i expect to result in a great deal of improvement in the quality of play. we have on fiery ginger for a football coach now who knows the game and will not accept losing to anyone. i believe this staff expects to go out on the field every game and win, and really mean that. so that being said, 3 gimmies, and louisville and vandy are toast this year! one more win is doable to get to 6. i know we haven't won an sec game in 2 yrs, so just winning one and getting over the hump is an immediate goal, but not the only one. so expect more than 1 sec win this year. 6 wins is my take.

I really don't have win-loss expectations, per se. But getting to a bowl game would accelerate the growth process of this program tremendously. We haven't had those extra December practices for a few years now, and that combined with an overall lack of experienced and talented depth has hurt big-time.

So 6 wins and a bowl would be considered a successful year by most people's opinions. What position do you think will be this teams achillies heel sort of speak?

Realistically, I figure us for a 4 win season. Not because there won't be improvement across the field, but because the schedule will be just as tough as last season. And even though we'll be much more stable at QB then we were last season, it's still going to take some time to really get a good stronghold there. Anything more than that would far exceed my expectations given that I think we're probably still a season away from getting back into a bowl game. 4 wins in my opinion would have us right on pace.
I just really hope that if we don't make a bowl this season, that the fans can accept that for now as long as they were competitive in games and showed marked improvement on the field. Even with significant improvement, it's asking an awful lot for a team that only had 2 wins last season against a comparable schedule. Bad habits are hard to break and it's still a very young squad.
