Add Mike Anderson to today's list of SEC coaches in the unemployment line. Houtson's Sampson is the guy many believe to be next in line in Fayetteville considering his ties w/ the current A.D.. There's no doubt the man can coach so long as he keeps his nose clean.
List of the deceased:
Avery Johnson ('Bama) Brice Drew (Vandy) Mike Anderson (Arkansas) Will Wade, aka, dead-man-walking (LSU) Billy Kennedy (Texas A&M)
That's a pretty active list for a single year in the SEC. Only Drew could be labelled a true "failure" and that had a big o' asterisk w/ roster injuries. The rest (other than Wade) suffered from a continuing case of mediocrity. The Wade thing is / will be self-inflicted stupidity.
Coaching moves normally aren't made / announced until after the Final-Four. It will be interesting to see if any of these programs actually end up w/ "upgrades" in the head-coaching departments.

Well, I expected Anderson might finally be in real trouble, when you recollect the backstory, circumstances and expectations surrounding his hire. He'd been assistant to Nolan Richardson and Richardson loyalists insisted that it would be Anderson who could restore the lost glory--as THEY remembered it-- from that earlier era. They didn't stop until they'd succeeded in getting John Pelphrey fired and handing his top 10 recruiting class over to Anderson.
Much is expected from those well-anointed, and when Anderson's successes over the years pretty much stayed in the ho-hum range, I'm actually a bit surprised that he lasted 8 years.

Buffalo's Oats is now the H.C. at 'Bama. This had to be predetermined (on 'Bama's part) to have happened so quickly. Oats had just signed an extension w/ Buffalo a couple weeks ago. Based upon recent history the man is a good coach, we'll see how successful he is recruiting in the South.

I am hardly worried at all about Nate Oates or Alabama basketball. This is a big nothingburger as far as I am concerned.
