Got a great deal on a room at the Westin in Atlanta for the Sec Tourney, now I need some tickets.. Any places online to still get some decent seats? Ive heard you can buy them off losing teams as they come out, but I dont really like the idea of going down without tickets in my hand.

you will absolutely have NO trouble buying tics on the street in catlanta. i almost had to give away two for the championship game in 2011. they were lowers behind the basket. upgraded to lower centers for championship game and got like $20 each for mine. thought i was gonna have to give them away. nashville is a WHOLE different rascal! lol

That's the only thing that worries me about the SEC tournament moving to Nashville for like 12 years straight or something. It will be very hard to get tickets due to the close proximity. I love seeing the "blue mist" invade the streets of Nashville, but my wallet doesn't always agree. I love going to Atlanta...even though there isn't as much to do around there (IMO). My dad never bought tickets before the tournament started. He would get there early and try to buy tickets from teams that lose in the first round. I have done both methods....paying for a book before the tourney starts and buying tickets from the street. Sometimes it pays off buying a book (2010 and 2011) and sometimes it pays off to buy a single ticket (last year).

I really don't like Nashville for the tournament!!!! The fans wind up getting ripped off..........and the scalpers always amazingly have an abundance of tickets!!!!!! In my opinion, somebody in the SEC main office is getting a major kick-back for a decision like this!!! My favorite venue for the tournament is Atlanta, with no close 2nd place finisher! JMO

no doubt the tic situation in Nashville is ridiculou$$$, but the action outside the arena is head and shoulders above Atlanta. I LOVED seeing and mingling with the herd of BBN in Nashville. never have I seen one area so jammed packed with so many BBN folk as in Nashville for the SECT. but you better come to nashville with tics in hand or a mountain of disposable income to watch the uk games in person.
im with you tapi...how do those scalpers accumulate all those tic. books? It's my understanding that some make well over 10k for that weekend. unless uk exits early of course ;-)

Atlanta is a horrible venue for actually watching the game. I always buy a couple tickets but nearly always regret it. In Nashville, tickets to the first game are outrageous. If Kentucky loses the remainder of the book are actually hard to give away to someone. Hotel rates are better in Atlanta obviously due to the number of rooms. Nashville rates are higher and nearly impossible to find in close proximity for the first game. After 6 straight years of SEC tourney, I am strongly considering forgoing the SEC tournament and its new home in Nashville.

I LOVE Atlanta and hate that it is going to Nashville, pretty much, full time. It's tough to get tickets down there and in Atlanta it's no trouble at all. You will be able to get good seats man, so I wouldn't sweat it. I'll be down there as well and I can't wait!

Jay, whatever you do don't buy Atlanta SEC Tourney tickets off of one of the broker/secondary sites (Stubhub, TicketsNow, Vivid Seats, etc) unless they're for less than face value - which I'm guessing they wouldn't be til close to the tourney. As others have said, there are plenty to go around at the Dome because of how big it is. Atlanta is a buyers market, Nashville a seller's (as long as UK is still alive). If you don't feel confident going down without tickets, you can always go to other SEC schools ticket sites and buy from them at face value. Unfortunately you have to buy a full book, but this year that shouldn't be too risky. Look around at a few different schools to see what sections their blocks are in to get the best views.

A ploy we used in getting tickets in Atlanta a few years back was to check with stub hub early and other sites to see what they had available. Then, wait until the week of the tournament and call back. When they would quote their price, you would just say you weren't going to pay that, and you were going to check some other sites. At this point, they would stop you and you could get good tickets at a reasonable, but above face value price. I don't know how this would work these days with our "super teams" with Cal, but we have found other ways of obtaining them. I am not the one really experienced in pulling this off, as my son always took care of finding and obtaining tickets!!!!
