Depsite the 10 minutes of missing game action..... That was a 20% improvement over the previous night; what a difference hitting a few shots makes. Obesrvations: - Herro is going to play, no way around it. I don't buy the Chapman comparisons but I do see a lot of Jeff Shepard in him. He's a confident kid.
- I guess Quickley is the PG by default. Love Hagans intensity and he'll get some minutes but he needs some experience.
- Green is just limited due to his body type. He's fine on the offensive end of the court but just ping-pongs off everyone at the defensive end. The way UK switches on D he's a liability on that end.
- Johnson and Travis (marginally) looked more comfortable on the court.
- Like the way this team has started out of the gate both games; slow starts was a real problem last year.
I expected the competition to be tougher last night but that didn't seem to be true; UK was much more in control of the game throughout than against the Bahama National Team.
All-in-all a pretty impressive performance.

Herro is going to be a stud in my mind. He can get buckets at all three levels. I personally would rather see him at the 2 over Quade and just run a big team. Hagans has really surprised me. I know he is young and all that but I had thought the keys to the team would be his. He cant score and seems to be way out of control with the ball. Love what I see from Keldon.
I would like to see some more set plays where we run through the post. Dump it down and let our big guys work on the block. When the shooting goes cold thats what we are gonna need to do.
Again still early. Lots of time and we will only get better.

Quickley's experience playing for USA Basketball seems to be really helping him. He's played for Cal before and he's played in venues other than AAU and High School. He looks steady for it being this early. Hagans will be more of a work in progress but looks like he has pretty close to elite level burst. Gonna take time but he adds a different element on both ends of the floor.
I hope at least one of the big guys (PJ, Reid, EJ) will be able to shoot 3s. We have insane lineup diversity with this team but certain lineups will get the classic UK treatment... zone and pack it in. With that said, I hope Hagans can become respectable from 3 as well.
I can see Herro running around the court like Monk/Murray/Knox trying to get free...Cal will definitely call plays to set him free. Herro better be in good shape!
Catinohio - you're right... looks like we could play some inside out offense this season. EJ/PJ/Travis/Nick are all showing signs of life offensively.

PJ and Reid were a combined 4/5 from three last night. That's a sign of good things to come I believe.
