I think he's ours. Don't know why Oscar would mislead the guy who's going to be coaching him this season, or why the coach would mislead Catinohio. Until HE tells us otherwise, I'm going to continue to expect good news.

Bad news.....things arent looking good for UK. Oscar's guardian is winning out in this struggle for a decision. He is obsessively pro WVU. Its looking less likely UK is the choice.

That was expected. I'm sure as soon as the guardian heard UK was the choice, even more WVU push began. But if the guardian was going to push WVU anyway, don't think anyone but WVU would have been the choice. Cool that we were able to hang around as long as we did. Also sucks that the guardian is going to have a huge impact on Oscar's future. Can't tell me he would have the same career or be the same player as he would have if he went to UK.

truly sad that these "guardians" have to basically "force" these kids to places that they don't really want to be. my guardians (parents) would want me to make my own decision on my future, but they wouldn't be expecting a payout at the end either

Well, very disappointing, but One wonders if this illustrates the dangers of delaying recruiting efforts until others have established a significant relationship

I can assure you that's not the case here. Uk did a great job with Oscar. He loves UK and calls them his dream school. I had a talk with his coaches again tonight and this is far more complicated then one could ever imagine. Oscars guardian is a piece of shit. He really is. He is saying he will kick Oscar out of the house if he doesn't choose Wv. He fears if Oscar doesn't go to WV he will lose his very close relationship with Huggins and the staff. Cal has talked to Oscar twice this week. I'm not saying definitively, but comments were made to suggest that sags konate is getting some form of benefit at WV. Id bet loads of money this guardian whi was also sags guardian is getting some of that too and wants the funnel back to him to remain in place with Oscar. I got the impression that UK is not out of it but it would take Oscar defying his guardian and being kicked out of the house for him to choose UK. He told several of his friends that he was going to UK but his guardian will stop at nothing to prevent that. All of his coaches have tried everything to assure him that UK is the place for him. In fact they told me that they pushed Kansas harder than any school but Oscar hated Lawrence Kansas and cut them. His high school coach and aau coach all are pushing for UK and Oscar wants to go to UK badly. Well, very disappointing, but One wonders if this illustrates the dangers of delaying recruiting efforts until others have established a significant relationship

Very sad to hear indeed but not surprising. After all that has come out regarding the college basketball scandal, it's truly amazing what Cal has accomplished at UK without taking part in (presumably) in providing benefits and profits for the players. Seems like we are fighting an uphill battle and are already at a disadvantage with top players and we have still managed to reel in some studs, and not just college level studs, straight up All-NBA studs.
On the other hand, I completely understand that many players and their families are in immediate need, need jobs, need a place to live, anything to get by. I am no one to judge those with their hands out in the recruiting process. To top it all off, I now truly understand when Cal says, "Kentucky isn't for everybody." That has way more meaning now, and I think he was trying to tell us all along. Even more so, I'm angry at all of the college basketball who continually scrutinized UK, calls us a dirty program, and has claimed that "Cal has lost a step".
Those who were smart, saw through benefits. They see that, I come, I may not get the benefits I could, but a year from now, two years from now, I'll be making the real money in the NBA instead of languishing at the end of the college bench. That says a lot about the integrity of not only Coach Cal, but the great players have chose to come to UK.
OK sorry all, rant over.

I wouldn t be too naive here. Every single program in the country is giving players things. It's just the truth in the matter. Kentucky is no exception. I know a handler for john wall got 1 million dollars. Not saying it was directly from UK but it happened. Calipari is tied in as tight as you can get with world wide wes and he is heavily involved with player benefits. It's happening everywhere. It's alot of who how when and where.

I dont want to beat a dead horse here, but I heard that this recruitment may not be over just yet. Ive heard that Cal has been and remained in contact with Oscar as recent as this weekend. He still wants to go to UK badly. He is concerned about missing a chance to be a McDonalds All American being a WV commit. I was also told that Huggins tried to come see OScar and Oscar refused the meeting last week because he doesnt want to see Huggins right now. Seems to be a struggle and I wouldnt be surprised to see a decommit potentially.

Jones and several other recruits who are on our team, it's not over until the jersey is put on during the first game. Do you have an insight as to why Oscar just didn't wait until the spring to commit? He could have avoided the issue with his guardians and then bolted for UK? I'm sure there were other facts and pressure to choose. Regardless, appreciate the update!
