His best bet would be to come back and get healthy.

In the end, these kids will tend toward a reading of the tea leaves that most conforms with what they want to do, anyway. Vanderbilt made it clear from the time of his commitment that he absolutely intended to enter the draft after just 1 season. So, it certainly wouldn't surprise me at all if he interprets a unanimous consensus that he return to UK so as to demonstrate his durability as REALLY meaning that he needs to go NOW rather than run the risk of another injury demonstrating his fragility.

He still will have to pass a physical. Houston they may be a problem.

Max.....I think you're spot on here. They've been fed at the 'suck up' trough by their ''handlers'' that they are a step away from the NBA.....and it's even worse when they DO have the potential to play at the next level. Jarred has shown the potential to play at the next level.....and....to be potentially injury prone too. It would seem logical that the NBA would be hesitant to draft someone who's injury prone....and logical that Jared would want a full season of health and being a key contributor to UK to be on his NBA resume. Time will tell

I think they often see what they want to see. And of course we aren't privy to exactly what these guys are hearing anyway so it wouldn't be fair to judge his decision at this point. Wish him the best either way. All said and done I think if he can stay healthy he'll eventually find his way to a roster somewhere.

the smart thing, would be come back another year and prove he is healthy... the realistic thing, is maybe he isn't sure of his overall health and he wants to get what he can before he finds out bad news

Well, I was trying to be both realistic AND diplomatic. I think he has real talent--but truly significant offensive deficits, as well. I mean, no one would see him as a stretch 4 right now, and as far as I know, he has no mid-range game or post skills, either. IF it's true that he's basically been lame since LAST spring for all but the brief window during last season and is still unable to work out months afterward, I don't understand a draft pick being used on him unless, of course, this is a truly shallow talent pool. Regardless, he'd spend a looooong time in the development league, I'd think.
