WTF happened to the Coaches BOX Rule ? Might as well just do away with it ! I mean Davidsons coach ran up the sidelines almost to center court every time Davidson did something positive, and then stood there, giving high frives and fanny slaps. Nate Oats squatted on his heels within 6 feet of the center court line, half of the game. Calipari ventured far down court on several occasions. SlickTino constantly ventured as far as center court, and even out on the floor when he coached,DaVille, and wait until you get a look at "Running Tom",the new coach at UGA. Saw many other examples over the weekend, too numerous to mention. Just curious why the rules are no longer enforced. Anybody ?

They changed the rule. I believe this year is the first year of the new rule. There's a second line now on the floor about halfway between the old coaches' box line and mid-court that they're now allowed to go up to. It is probably 5-10 feet from mid court.
Edit: I looked it up. What used to be the old coaches' box is now called the Team Bench Area. The new Coaches' Box is another line that's 7 feet from mid-court. The coach now has from the baseline to this new Coaches' Box line.

Thanks so much,wildcatknh.....that change somehow got past me,and if you watch, some are already abusing the rule by by going as far as center court. Oh well, no sense in me trying to mimic Don Quixote.
