With two games left (and virtually no chance it'll be anything other than a 1-and-1 outcome) we can pencil the 2016 regular season in as a 6-and-6 affair; the very definition of mediocrity. Mediocrity has been the pinnacle of UK football since Fran Curci roamed the sidelines in the mid-seventies; albeit w/ tarnished success. Sustained, upper-level mediocrity was achieved during the Claiborne and Hal Mummy eras but only one of those was done w/ any integrity. Rich Brooks also strung together some respectable teams that again, never passed the mediocre threshold.
So, in a VERY left-handed way, you've got to paint Stoops squad as good by UK standards. Personally, I'm glad to have him as coach and think he's done as well as any could (reasonably) hope for. It's nice to at least be taken seriously by the rest of the SEC on the gridiron.

I can't argue too much with the above but I could not help but read those opening statements while hearing Steve Spurrier's voice :-p

6-6 record aside, if it turns out that way, I'm just glad to see this team beginning to go about their business like a SEC team should. The little things have been so lacking and those are coming around now a little at a time.

Well ... aside from the opening loss to USM (which I think would very likely be a 'W' if played today) ... we've beaten every team on our schedule ranked lower than 50th in the nation (according to TeamRankings.com) and only lost to top-50 teams. That can't be said of a lot of previous seasons and is a good sign that this UK team is taking care of teams they should take care of. One other note ... four of our wins this season are against teams rated above us (again TeamRankings.com).
TeamRankings has UK at #73 and ESPN's Power Index has UK at #67. Not sure there are that many teams in the nation better than us right now. Seems a little low for a team tied for 2nd in the SEC East.

He's actually laid a good foundation. We return virtually an entire offensive unit that's now established an ability to really run the ball; we lose Toth but Drake Jackson should be up to stepping in. The main issue, IMO, is in the D line. Those are tough positions to fill, accumulate depth, etc. Until we can be competitive in stopping the run, rushing/containing the QB, etc, we'll be in a tough spot to win against quality opponents. Hope the bowl will help out recruiting, because we seem to be dipping an awful lot into the 3 star pool.

Not sure what changed, but there were was a time not very long ago where we more often than not had really good d-linemen. Dwayne Robertson, etc. Now we struggle to field a solid starting unit, much less depth.

Just checking back in to eat a little well deserved Crow. Congrats to Stoops and the Team on a helluva effort Saturday. May he continue to prove me and the rest of BBN's considerable number of skeptical football fans wrong. Thank You!

From the lowest depths in recent memory to one of the best feel-good finishes we have seen. Unbelievable. I feel like it is now safe to be optimistic about the future of the program.
