Really hate posting this, but this is Stoops comparison to Joker Phillips. Joker had a bowl game his 1st year. Stoops 0. Worst record(with better players), higher salary. Do you think he deserves another year?
Joker:
2010 Kentucky 6-7
2011 Kentucky 5-7
2012 Kentucky 2-10
Total 13-24
Now Stoops:
2013 Kentucky 2-10
2014 Kentucky 5-7
2015 Kentucky 5-7
Total 12-24

I think he should be given more time. Joker's initial success was secondary to the relatively full cupboard left by Rich Brooks. Joker's inability to sustain recruiting led to his progressively worsening record and the empty cupboard that Stoops inherited. All but one of today's starters on Offense was either a Freshman or Sophomore. We will be better next year.

I don't see firing him after just just two seasons. That doesn't mean, tho, that he gets a pass on errors that approach incompetence and which may have cost us the last two games. First, it was a failure against Vandy to recognize the complete absence of coverage on their wide receiver ["What? You mean they were allowed to put ELEVEN players out there?"] which resulted in a wide open toss & catch into the EZ. THIS week, we have the ball inside the 10; TWO timeouts; it's THIRD down; and it's 34 seconds to halftime. Instead of USING one of those timeouts immediately, we instead let the clock burn down to about 10 seconds before doing so. THIS, I have no doubt, led to Barker being told to get rid of the ball quickly and heave it into the seats if someone doesn't come open immediately. That, of course, is EXACTLY what he did --but just as Badet was breaking wide open in the EZ. Again, I hate to say this, but Stoops ISN'T a rookie head coach any more and his coordinators are VERY well paid. THIS^^^ kind of crap is amateurish and inexcusable.
One other thing: Do we or don't we have a nutrition & conditioning program that these kids are required to participate in? When we signed Matt Elam, he was 380# and it was recognized by all concerned that he needed to lose 50-60# at least in order to be truly effective. Today, he's still listed at 360; doesn't look a bit leaner than before; and for the most part, he seems to rise at the snap and become a stationary or slow moving object that everyone else simply run past. However, I THOUGHT the idea was to develop this kid to the point of providing us w/ an Alabama-caliber player, but I'm not seeing it. I certainly can't put him and "high performance conditioning" in the same category. JMO.

One more year. No bowl=not retained. Honestly with the renewal Mitch gave him, probably stuck for longer. But he just seems clueless.

In Stoops' defense, Brooks left Joker a TON more to work with than Joker left Stoops. With that said...
There HAS to be a higher power that is dead-set against UK having a successful FB program. How the H-E-Double-hockey-sticks does a team carry a 3 score lead into the half, and lose by 2 TD's? Pathetic is too kind a term to use for that level of crapping the bed.
I'm not sure what the answers are. Stoops has a hella buyout, but I'm not sure firing a coach after 3 years sends a positive message to potential suitors. I think Elliot has to go (sacrificial lamb, he's worked ok within his limited talent). Schlarman is gone as well. I don't think Dawson is gone, and I'm willing to give him one more year. But, he is now the anchor around Stoops' neck if he steps on his Johnson again next fall.
I joked on GYERO that I need to find a new team. UKFB fans make Job look like he was crying over a hang-nail. We've waited for half a century for some consistent winning football, and from the way I feel now we may be waiting another half-century.

Next year's schedule will do him no favors either, It will be tough to get 6 wins. Personally I like Stoops, but if Les Miles becomes available I hope they make him a offer that he can not refuse. I am sure there will be a long line trying to get him.
Sept. 3 SOUTHERN MISS
Sept. 10 at Florida
Sept. 17 NEW MEXICO STATE
Sept. 24 SOUTH CAROLINA
Oct. 1 at Alabama
Oct. 8 VANDERBILT
Oct. 15 open date
Oct. 22 MISSISSIPPI STATE
Oct. 29 at Missouri
Nov. 5 GEORGIA
Nov. 12 at Tennessee
Nov. 19 AUSTIN PEAY
Nov. 26 at Louisville

Its a hard call. We are UK and I'm not thinking that Les Miles will be calling us tonight or anything. But... I don't see 6 wins there and I can't imagine recruiting great talent to a program where the coach has never coached a bowl game...

Stoops stays, but we need some position coaches who can coach and know what they are doing. O'line is terrible. Receivers cannot get open. No special teams coach! 3 places I'd start if I were Stoops...then I would call brother Bob and ask him for some game management tips.

I don't know if Stoops is the answer, but have long believed that Les Miles sucks. So let's just quit that crazy talk. His incompetence is the #1 reason we beat LSU in 2007. Fact.

I would say he needs to go based upon reading that he says we got outcoached or we were not prepared as well as they were. One or two times is too many but heard it way too many times this year. He is not getting paid millions for not having team prepared.
I hear Bo Pellini was on sideline Saturday.

While I certainly find our current situation to be disconcerting, I think Bo Pelini is seven kinds of crazy and at least Stoops doesn't embarrass us with his behavior. I really like the guy and have hoped that this would go well but it is getting harder to imagine that it will.

Stoops deserves another year at least. He did indeed inherit a nearly bare cupboard. I would love to see some emphasis put on special teams - preparation, athleticism, speed, and never, ever making a big play while surrendering several timely ones have crucified any shot of upsets.
I think Stoops can put things together at UK and is perhaps the better than any replacement option willing to come here.
