Another TBK refugee here. I haven't posted much in the last couple of years, but made it a daily habit to check in 2-3 times per day. I hate to see what's happened there, but looking back at the past several months, you could see it coming. I can't comment on Marc's troubles, but we all lose people we care about and we all deal with it differently. I hope if that is the reason his commitment to TBK slacked off that he recovers in his own time...
But, we also know that the board just wasn't what it was in the past. Several inside sources seemed to have vanished and those that were around were posting less and less. Marc's promised audio blogs rarely materialized, the news feed died one day on Tee Martin, never to come back, and only 4BarCat's article posts were keeping the message boards going. I missed reading Dave Kersey's comments (thanks for the great posts already, sir!), as well as others with long-time knowledge or insight, like JAIDEN.
Even as a paid Insider, though, I always thought that the Lifers must be getting all the info from Marc, just like regular members must have also thought of us Insiders. Apparently, though, NO ONE was getting anything recently. And thanks to the public burnings and bannings we'd seen Marc do in the past, I think a lot of people just kept quiet instead of risking incurring the wrath of MM. Now we see when someone did take a stand, lots of others quickly spoke up and joined the exodus.
IF Marc comes back to TBK, I'm sure he'll be sure to blast those of us who jumped ship. But by now, I don't think it matters.
Here's hoping this message board continues well into the future - and here's hoping we have a National Championship to talk about in a few months!

With today's social networks, information travels so fast that I don't see the need for "inside info" any more. I did like the "behind the scenes" stuff, but Marc seemed late on the last couple of commitments like Mudiay and Oubre. Plus, people like Matt Jones will be spilling premium info on his site anyways to where everyone kinda knows what people are saying on premium boards.
If we can develop a respectful message board where everyone feels comfortable to post and share their thoughts, then I see this site lasting. I think people like the "community feel" more than anything....or at least I know I do.

I agree with the "behind the scenes" type stuff. The interworking of the team and things like that are more worthwhile and fun to know. In fact, I hope Dave and others can continue to speak out on even old teams and how things went down in the past.

I agree with you, Jenkins. I think the whole "inside info" deal isn't what it once was, especially with KSR and other sites out there. I'm here for the camaraderie with other respectful UK fans. If someone has inside info, I'd love to hear it, but I would never again pay for that. Also, big thanks to all the guys who got this board up and running. It's early in the game, but this site is great!

Member of the 101 club back in the 70's...back in those days, the NCAA allowed recruiting trips,so we went to watch prospects wearing UK stuff, either in large planned groups by bus,or as smaller individual groups...viewed and tried to sway, any hot prospect within drivable distance...back then you were allowed to write letters, etc. I became closely associated with Joe B and became Leonard Hamiltons eye Dr, which further fueled my interest...Anyway my thirst for recruiting information, became a hobby, for lack of a better definition, although my wife thinks sickness would probably be more accurate. <grin> Joined up with MM before his site became TBK..I became a Lifer in the initial group,so I got my moneys worth, unlike many guys that recently joined, and got nothing,in return....some were even denied access for weeks and weeks, after paying. I'm gonna miss all the legitimate, connected information that MM once distributed. I enjoyed some of the guys, but not all, that posted often on TBK,so I came here to take a look. If the powers that be, can keep this site anything like TBK..no flaming,no disrespect, etc then I'll be a frequent visitor. At any rate its a good idea. Bob

I am also an original lifer member. I rarely posted, but checked the site numerous times daily. Now I check it maybe once every 2 or 3 days. I have missed the TBK postings and am thrilled to have found this site. Like many, I was somewhat afraid of posting my thoughts (respectfully) on TBK. Glad to have found this site.

For those who thought we were getting a lot of info on the lifer board, here is a summery; since Dec 6 2011 only 20 threads started with only 181 posts total, since 8/1/12 only 8 threads started with only 56 posts ! 38 of those posts were about FB recruiting, hiring of Stoops ' hiring new asst.s ! Those 56 posts were included in the 181 total posts! Marc may have posted1-3 times with out really giving any info in Jan-May! Site has been dead for 2 YEARS!!! It's not coming back!

Just out of curiosity how long did you guys get good info before things started to get very sparse? I can't really remember. And what was the cost of the lifer sub? I can't seem to recall that either. If you don't care to tell.

Whitler: I signed up in Apr 2010 for 5 yrs at $300, or $5 a month. I recall very little info from MM since about a year ago, meaning I will eventually be out $150 for no information whatsoever.

This is gonna be long, but I've wanted to vent this for a while now.
I was on a monthly membership with TBK since Marc started the site (anyone remember when the site was called Kentucky Ink??). I cancelled my sub in August after REPEATEDLY asking, both publicly and privately, to have my premium access granted after payment was sent, and no access was ever granted and I never got any sort of response from Marc.
I cancelled the day before my next payment was scheduled to be made. I was 100% robbed of $9.99, and technically more than that if you consider the many months I had premium access, but there was zero info on the Insiders board.
Anyway, I made a post on the free board sort of as a public service announcement, trying to tell the other members my story and that they should not sent any payments to Marc, because your access will not be granted no matter what. My post was promptly removed within 5 minutes, and I was permanently banned. I seriously doubt anyone other than Marc would do that, which makes me think he definitely checks the board frequently and definitely knew about my problem, and simply didn't care.
I'm with Rowdy, he's a grade A crook who I have zero respect for now. I realize he has had some personal issues going on lately, but that's no excuse to flat-out STEAL from others who have supported your business for so long.
I truly, truly feel bad for those of you who shelled out $300 or whatever it is for a "lifetime" membership. Hindsight is 20/20, but I think we all should have realized what was going on when he started that Lifer garbage.

Just curious I never realized the lifer board was a separate board Never saw a tab for it Did it show up after you signed up? I just assumed the lifer sub was a lifetime membership to the insiders forum

The other thing about the "insider" info is that a lot of recruits seem to play it even closer to the vest than in years past. If the recruit is not talking to other people, it's hard to get the info that once seemed to flow more freely. I think everyone figured out that everything got out on the internet, Twitter, etc. immediately and started holding back.

I'm not going to get into the back story...but Marc's lack of interest in TBK, and my problems with it, is/was the main reason I was banned back in 2011. I bitched about it (a lot) on the Mod fourm and was finally cut off. Never went back after that day, and am glad the posters/mods found a new home that welcomed me back.
All I will say is I met Marc, and he was a nice guy. My mechanic buddy actually did some work for him on one of his cars when he was living in Hodgenville. His internet persona left a lot to be desired...but it is what it is.
Like I said, glad to be home. I told Marc after I was banned that his lack of effort on the site would bite him on the ass one of these days. And, knowing how he thinks, he will probably drop some info in the not-too-distant future to try and salvage TBK. But, from reading everyone's reactions, its probably going to be too little, too late.
