With Stoops pretty well confirming that Neal Brown has taken the HC job at Troy today, I'm curious as to what the football folks around here want as an OC. A couple names have come up in relation to UK so far. Murray State HC Chris Hatcher who was at UK in the late 90s as a GA and QB/WR coach. Or ECU's OC Lincoln Riley who was WR coach at Texas Tech at the same time Brown was there and worked with Mike Leach.
Anyone else hearing anything? Thoughts?

To add I've also seen Cinci OC Eddie Gran's name come up but I don't know that he'd leave Tuberville as long as they've worked together.

IMO, Stoops wants to play smash mouth football and if he gets his way we will not see anything close to the Air Raid from the next OC.

I've read the Coley name being mentioned.

or maybe look south. Coley seems to be floating around as the favorite at the moment. was with him at Fla. St. currently at the U. the name from the north being floated is Eddie Gran. he's a little older, very established and both are great recruiters. i think either would be a great hire.

Stoops does not want to play smash mouth football. Don't know where some of you are getting this. He wants to open up the offense and has said this repeatedly. Apparently Coley,Gran and Lincoln Riley are the names being mentioned the most with the OC's from TCU thrown in also. All sound like good choices. Coley might be my least favorite...JMO.

Coley is ranked like the 17th best recruiter in the nation...Gran is like the 300th something level...in a "style" (type of offense) vs a "substance" (type of recruit) scenario ANY SUCCESSFUL SEC TEAM should take the "substance" EVERY TIME.

Now Kyle Tucker says that Stoops is not even going to consider Coley as his system is not what Stoops wants. Bring on Lincoln Riley. Lets get it started.

You can be the best recruiter around but you have to coach them up and have a solid game plan at the end of the day. Ron Zook proved that at UF. I think any of the above would be fine, but it has to be a good fit for both parties. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4

Riley for a scheme would be fine, but we REALLY need top-level recruiters.
Bad.
Got a feeling it will be Gran or Hatcher.
My order would be: Coley, Gran, Riley, Hatcher. Hatcher doesn't excite me AT ALL. Not sure how good Riley would be as a recruiter.
We shall see, I guess.

I was in the Atlanta airport on Saturday afternoon when this well dressed fella hops on the train. I looked down at his bags and noticed the ECU logo and then the name, Lincoln Riley. Told him they had a great game the other night and he thanked me. Then I asked him if he was looking to jump into the SEC. Of course he couldn't say anything but this huge smile came across his face. I would bet Coach Stoops was at the SEC championship game on Saturday so it makes sense that they would have been meeting there. Riley said he was on a recruiting trip. Don't know anything other than that but if anyone knows Coach Stoops was in Atlanta, I would say the odds were pretty good that the two were meeting.

Other than you should have grilled him over why he didn't try to score from the 15 late in the game... well played, sir!
