AP better step up and become a leader. If not he will have the best seat in the house to watch something special.
He is one of my favorites. So was a guy named Richard Master Blaster Madison. He never put it all together. He was good but should have been great.

He has that Kelenna build, but I'm afraid he may always end up being too "soft". And given the guys we have on the roster now it wouldn't surprise me if he got passed up unless he really puts the effort in to making himself the best player he can be while at UK. The potential is there but only if he'll rise to the occasion.

By that I mean he comes back and improves in the areas he needs to work on, does the things Cal wants him to do = finishing a play, and doesn't mope because the freshman are tearing up our opponents. I like him and see the potential....but he's the one who needs to see where he needs to be and what he needs to focus on....otherwise I agree he'll have a frustrating season watching from the good seats.

I think it's all mental for Alex. He has the physical skill and size, and he's clearly very intelligent (book smart), but I don't know if it's emotional maturity or maybe just getting down on himself too easily and losing focus or what. It may take until his Junior or even Senior year to develop that. That's fine. I'd love to see him on our squad next year. If he's our 7th or 8th player this year and if he's not projected as a lock as a first round draft pick, why not stay for at least his junior year?

I'm definitely rooting for the kid. And he's looking a little sharper at times. Has to work on the ball handling though. It sticks out like a sore thumb when the big men around him can handle it like a PG.

I don't know anything about AP personally, but he just doesn't appear to be the overly competitive type. Maybe he can develop a little of that and become a great role player, who knows?

The kid is very good in the class room and, evidently, doesn't mind the school work part of being a student-athlete. I remember his dad saying something to the effect when he was deciding to stay or enter the draft that he wasn't necessarily in a hurry to leave school. As long as it really does wind up in the best interest of Alex and his future, maybe we should hope that he is really good by the end of this year, decides to stay, and the light REALLY comes on next year and he becomes a lottery pick! That would be good for us AND Alex!!!
