UK won the game against South Carolina in the 1st half and kept from losing it in the 2nd. Kentucky took advantage of South Carolina miscues throughout the 1st half to build a comfortable 21-point lead then pretty much played prevent defense the whole 2nd half while the Offense took the rest of the game off. That was more than enough to put the game in the win-column. Too bad Benny finished 1-yard shy of reaching 100; especially considering he was over the century mark late in the game and took a couple losses to creep back.
A&M opens as nearly a touchdown favorite (6.5 points) for Saturdays affair in Texas; that smells about right to me. A&M played Clemson to the wire but has looked mediocre (while winning) since. Mond is a talented, dual-threat QB and they are skilled everywhere. It'll be a tough game in a tough environment. My main concern(s) are UK's health on the O-Line and their fundamental dependency on the run game. Those are two things that are not complementary. From every indication, UK's defense should keep them in the game; just not sure the offense will be healthy enough and/or diverse enough to put up enough points to win.
IF, and I mean IF, UK DOES pull off the "W" then they have a week off to heal and can look at the back-end of the season with a whole lot of realistic opportunities for rare-air success.
Go Big Blue.
