Cal's choice or mixing/matching of lineups--still, as always, a function of not just both player skills, but learning capacity, as well--is going to be fascinating. Once again, he could--on paper, at least-- platoon two complete units of future pros. What's different this time [IMO] is the number of 4/5-star kids with deep shooting skills. If the hype is accurate, this roster gives Cal the opportunity to keep serious firepower everywhere on the floor, and whether he goes small, big or even jumbo.

Surely we're not saying Brad is a future pro? He'd be that 10th man.......

Here's the roster: Jemarl Baker 6-4 Fr. G
Brad Calipari 6-0 Jr. G
Jonny David 6-2 Sr. G
Tyler Herro 6-5 Fr. G
Quade Green 6-0 So. G
Keldon Johnson 6-6 Fr. F
EJ Montgomery 6-10 Fr. F
Zan Payne 6-5 Fr. G
Immanuel Quickley 6-3 Fr. G
Nick Richards 6-11 So. F
PJ Washington 6-7 So. F
Reid Travis 6-8 Sr. F
Ashton Hagans 6-4 G
Looks like Brad could struggle to make it in the top 10.

I think a lot of theories can be raised about the lineup, and it won't be a surprise if Cal experiments some early on.However, he's always placed a premium on post presence, rim protection and shot blocking at that position, so I do expect to see Nick or EJ in one of the lineup spots. Cal's also been explicit about his intention to increase scoring from behind the arc, and not just a little, but substantially. To me, that means that WHOEVER wins the 3 position, it's going to have to be someone who can knock those shots down--no buts or maybes. Maybe RT and/or PJ can do just that, but if neither of them can, I think we're gonna see Johnson, Herro or somebody else who CAN shoot from deep at that spot. Obviously, if that happens, there'll be only one more spot left in the front line for RT and PJ to compete over.
But then, I could be completely, totally wrong. lol

Call Me crazy.....but I think Keldon will be the starting 3 very soon and will get some major minutes in all sorts of combinations.

Well, I tend to think so, too; as mind-boggling as it would be, I just don't expect Reid and/or PJ to suddenly reveal themselves as larger versions of Doron Lamb. Nor do I expect John to try to transform them into 5-men, especially when he already has a pair of those--and of 5-star quality--in the stable, too. JMO

Gunna be a lot of Johnson and Herro at the "3". Montgomery, Travis, PJ and Richards rotate at the "4" and "5". Shapes up as a "classic" frontcourt w/ bigs, bangers and shooters.

Amen, brother. I remember how he paired Towns with Willie and Dakari with Lee so that each duo had at least one guy with offensive skills to avoid imbalance. I'm not saying that he won't go "big" or "small" situationally, but I think we're mainly going to see something similar to 2014-15, with, say, PJ paired with Nick and Reid paired with EJ.
