It's great to see good conversation / comments flowing again among the KS family (KS = Kat Scratchers many of whom were from the TBK family) I would have said the same things but you all beat me to the punch.
I think Cal has to be excited with the strategic picture he saw last night. Our potential is scary good. With Andrew out at the moment.....we haven't even seen how his presence will effect the mix. I can see Andrew with a smile on his face coming down the court contemplating his options. Aaron, JY, DW, Alex and JR ready to bury the 3....or JR, DJ, WCS, or Alex ready to muscle inside. So many options as to whose on the court, so many options as to the play to make.
I saw a lot of what I think is the Dribble Drive attack starting to form....last night it was to kick for a 3. I think we'll see that a lot this year as Cal mentioned....we'll see opponents sagging back and clogging the middle because we'll be too big and strong if they let us inside. Teams will have trouble guarding everyone one on one. Teams can take one maybe two players ''out'' of a game with their defensive plan.....but with UK that won't be enough as we can truly have 5 scoring options on the court and our guys will learn to find the open man no matter what the defense throws at them. This team come January.......it can't come soon enough.
I also saw glimmers of what our defense could be like. Just thinking of our '12 team.....they could rotate as the offense attacked and our opponents rarely could get the mis-match they wanted in their switching attempts because our guys could guard anybody....think Davis blocking 3's on the perimeter. I think Cal saw last night that these guys could grow to be that good. We're tall, long armed, quick, strong, and some are mean too. Once the 'defensive Light' goes on, our defense will be what scares opponents the most.
Now I'll just try to sit back and watch the magic unfold.....watch Cal mold these players into the monster UK team they can become.................Dream the Dream
To paraphrase the best line in the movie Troy = Do you see what's out there, immortality.....take it.... its yours.
