I'd really like to see him come out in the 2nd half and be aggressive. Just can't seem to figure him out. He has all the tools in the world, but just can't put it together consistently. With the talent on this team, he is gonna need to step it up or he could the odd man out.

I think he may be one of those guys that overthinks things. Unless it's an open jumper or a put back, he just doesn't look comfortable. However, I agree that he has all of the talent in the world.

HAHA, Jeff....that's the exact thing I was thinking of earlier. One of Tubster's best lines.

I think he's gonna get swallowed up on this team, he's too passive. It may take him another year. Hope I'm wrong for his sake

Hard to figure how he got to where he is now after such a great start in last year's first four or five games.

After last year's Duke game, I thought he was a sure thing. Let's just hope for his sake he can find that motor he seems to be lacking a little right now.

I would like to see poythress in a lot of post sets, because he seems to be most comfortable there unless he has a spot up three. Just a thought.

Poythress = Richard Madison

Poythress = Richard Madison I'm not really sure about that. I always thought, maybe mistakenly, that "The Master Blaster" was so athletic and everything had always come so easily for him, that he really didn't put the necessary effort into it to be successful. I remember hearing that he would be playing and wouldn't even know the plays, even after he had been here for a while. My impression is that AP is putting in the effort, and we can just hope that it pays off for him and the light comes on! RM could throw a 95mph+ fastball in baseball, in my opinion could have been an AA in BB, but didn't take advantage of the unique gifts he was given at birth. Cases like this are a real shame, if that is what happened in reality. I'm just basing my thoughts on info I heard / gathered by being an avid UK fan getting my hands on anything UK I could!!! Maybe Dave Kersey could comment on this, as I'm sure he probably knows some of the real scoop on "The Master Blaster". How about it, Dave?

Poythress played very good individual defense tonight, especially in the second half. I'll take that.

Poythress played very good individual defense tonight, especially in the second half. I'll take that. I thought I saw an improved Alex from the B-W game to tonight. He had his rough spots but he worked hard in the second half. Cal said that Alex needs to learn to ''finish'' plays and not so much ''start'' plays. Getting Andrew and the PG's to get Alex the ball at the right time and place will make him the finisher that Cal is looking for. Alex has the ability and has the desire and I think while he's a work in progress for so much talent....he'll get there. Sometimes I think he's got too much Darius in him and over thinks and is too passive....so I'm hoping he'll become the 2012 Darius for this team.

I think your comparison to Miller is spot on and because of that I think he'll be part of next years team ! Which because the way recruiting appears to be going May be a good thing for UK! JMHO

JMHO That is what I think, he has the Miller thing going on. You and TattMan hit on it in my opinion, however he has a lot higher ceiling than Miller. (I loved Miller) He only had one rebound, with his SIZE and athletic ability that is awful. He is so much better, and I think he will come around. Maybe next year, right now it looks like we would be lucky to have him back.

I think a lot of Alex's issue have more to do w/ his skill set rather than his effort..
IMO he has a really hard time playing his position 3/4 4/3 due to his ball handling ability.. At this point, he does not have the ability to get himself into position after one or two dribbles.. As alluded to earlier, and reinforced by Cal's comments, Alex needs to catch the ball in position to be successful ("he is a play finisher, not a play starter").
Hopefully this skill will develop in time, BC he def has the physical tools to be successful.. He was supposed to be working on this in the off season.
